‘Mongolia-Russia relations: History, modern times, and future outlook’ scientific conference takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On November 2, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of International Affairs at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences co-organized a scientific conference under the theme, ‘Mongolia-Russia relations: History, modern times, and future outlook’ in the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Russian Federation.

 

Deputy Speaker of the State Great Khural, Head of the Mongolia-Russia parliamentary group S.Odontuya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Munkhjin, Vice President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, academician G.Chuluunbaatar, and Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Mongolia S.A.Kramintsev attended the opening of the conference.


In her remarks, Deputy Speaker S.Odontuya expressed her satisfaction with the successful development of relations in all social sectors as per the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, and noted the significant role of efforts put in by parliamentarians throughout generations for the stable growth of bilateral cooperation.


 

As for Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Munkhjin, he highlighted that 92 works for the sectors of politics, defense, trade, economy, culture, science, and humanities have been reflected in the joint plan for marking the diplomatic anniversary. The joint plan is being implemented by the two countries’ government organizations, diplomatic representatives’ offices, and local authorities, and the peoples, NGOs, and entities on both sides are carrying out works at their own initiative. He then noted that the plans for the rest of the year include mutual high-level visits. 


In order to help the public, scholars, and students get a better understanding of the overview of the two countries’ relations, the Ministry has also worked together with research organizations and the Mongolian Translators’ Association to publish books on the chronicle of events for Mongolia-Russia relations, a selection of modern Russian literature translated into Mongolian as well as a selection of modern Mongolian literature translated into Russian.

 

With a keynote presentation on the topic, ‘Mongolia-Russia relations: History, modern times, and future outlook’ delivered by Director of the Department of Neighboring Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs T.Battsetseg, presentations and discussions were held on topics such as the history of Mongolia-Russia relations, and cooperation in politics, defense, economy, trade, science, culture, and education.
