Environment Minister meets Japanese Ambassador

of Environment and Tourism B.Bat-Erdene held a meeting with Ambassador of Japan
to Mongolia Kobayashi Hiroyuki on February 10.
They discussed how the two
sides could collaborate on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic
relations between Mongolia and Japan. The Environment Minister thanked the Japanese
side for the projects, programs and assistance in Mongolia including the JPY
200 million assistance from the Japanese Government’s Economic and Social
Development Program, financing for the Ulaanbaatar Air Quality Improvement Program,
the new international airport project, and the support in introducing
environmentally friendly technologies, financing and building capacity to implement
joint crediting mechanism and reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of the Mongolia-Japan
Low Carbon Development Partnership.
In addition to measures agreed at an environmental policy consultative meeting between the two countries within the diplomatic anniversary celebration, the Mongolian side put forth more proposals. Specifically, they talked about cooperating with Japan National Tourism Organization Web Site to improve the quality of tourism services, upskill tour guides and other tourism service providers, and promote tourism between the two countries.
