Future of transit transport in Mongolia discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized an online workshop, “Future of Transit Transport in Mongolia: Challenges and Opportunities” on May 25.


Supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, the workshop was held within the UNCTAD Empowerment Program for National Trade Facilitation Committees in which more than 50 representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations participated.


Within the scope of the seminar, discussions were held on Mongolia's transit transport issues and possible solutions as a landlocked developing country. In addition, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of the international situation on Mongolia's transit transport, the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, Mongolia's sustainable transit, and economic corridors and customs controls on international transit regimes were also discussed.
