Ulaanbaatar, August 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications of Mongolia, in cooperation with the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s Office, has established a Working Group to implement 22.9 km of manhole and conduit expansion works in conjunction with pedestrian walkway repairs.

Head of the Performance and Quality Department of “Information Communication Network” LLC Naranbaatar Naigal stated, “Our company manages seven stations, 9,236 manholes and conduits, and over 700 km of fiber-optic cables for 121 enterprises and organizations citywide. Since the implementation of the ‘MON-1300’ Project in 1996, no expansion of the city’s manhole and conduit network has been carried out. Therefore, we will relocate 22.9 km of above-ground cables and network wires along Peace Avenue, Chinggis Avenue, and the areas surrounding the Great and Small Rings into new underground extensions. The expansion will consist of four-duct conduits, each with a diameter of 110 cm. As this is an important infrastructure project that will relocate excessive overhead cables underground and enhance the city’s appearance, we are coordinating it with the pedestrian walkway repair and renovation works.”

Meanwhile, Director of “Chinggisyn Melmii” LLC Bat-erdene Davaajav said, “We are renovating a 6,354 m² pedestrian walkway and bicycle path on the west side, from in front of the Central Post Office to the APU Company intersection in the 19th khoroolol. Initially, we used locally produced stone tiles for the walkway, but due to limited availability, we have begun using stone tiles manufactured in the People's Republic of China. In addition, we are constructing an asphalt-concrete bicycle path and landscaping green areas. Overall, the project is progressing at just over 20 percent.”

Furthermore, First Deputy Governor of the Capital City of Mongolia Davaadalai Tumendalai instructed that the pedestrian walkway works around the Central Post Office be completed by September 1, 2025, and emphasized the need for close coordination with related manhole and conduit expansion works.
