Mongolia and Saudi Arabia Hold First Political Consultation in Riyadh

Ulaanbaatar, October 21, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The first Political Consultation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took place in Riyadh on October 20, 2025.


During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the political, social, and economic developments in their respective countries and reviewed the growing momentum in bilateral relations. Discussion focused on advancing bilateral cooperation through concrete economic initiatives and expanding collaboration across key sectors such as food security, agriculture, mining, infrastructure, education, digital economy, and tourism.


Both parties reiterated their dedication to collaborative efforts within the United Nations and other international organizations. 


The consultation followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two foreign ministries during the official visit of Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh to Saudi Arabia in 2023. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the agreements finalized as part of that visit, notably the Agreement on Air Transport Services and the Agreement on Exemption from Short-Term Visa Requirements for holders of diplomatic and official/ special passports.


Further strengtheing the legal framework of bilateral relations was also a key point of the discussions.

The meeting was co-chaired by Anand Amgalan, Director of the Department of the Americas, the Middle East and Oceania at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Nassar bin Awad bin Al-Ghanum, Director of the General Department of Asian Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
