National Statistics Office to represent East Asia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The National Statistics Office of Mongolia (NSO) will represent East Asia from 2021 to 2022 in the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals Indicators.
This will open up opportunities for the NSO to take part in the development of a methodology for the 'Sustainable Development Goals' indicators, improve international indicators, as well as develop its own capacity.
The National Statistical Office has been elected as a member of the Bureau of the Statistics and Communications of the United Nations ESCAP for 2020-2022. In this context, B.Batdavaa, Chairman of the National Statistical Office, has participated in the Bureau’s meeting virtually.
During the meeting, the discussion was held on the membership of High Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building (HLG-PCCB) and the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) which are responsible for providing statistical partnerships, cooperation, management and capacity building for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
The NSO worked as a member of the High Level Group in 2015-2019 and co-chaired in 2019-2020, and hosted the group's 14th meeting on May 22-25, 2019 in Ulaanbaatar.
