FIDE Master Enkhrii Enkh-Amgalan and Grandmaster Tin Jingyao Lead the Asian Zonal 3.3 Chess Championship

Ulaanbaatar, April 29, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Asian Zonal 3.3 Chess Championship, which serves as the qualifying round for the FIDE World Cup, is underway. 

 

Mongolia is hosting the Championship, jointly organized by the Mongolian Chess Federation and the Asian Chess Federation, for the second time, with around 110 participants from seven countries, including Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, competing. The Championship's format is a nine-round Swiss system, and chess players have played half of their rounds. After five rounds, Grandmaster Tin Jingyao from Singapore is leading with 4.5 points in the open category. International Master Dau Khuong Duy from Vietnam, International Master G. Amartuvshin from Mongolia, International Master Nayaka Budhidharma from Indonesia, Grandmaster Nguyen Duc Hoa from Vietnam, and International Master U. Agibileg from Mongolia have 4.0 points each.

 

In the women’s category, FIDE Master Ekhriimaa Enkh-Amgalan is comfortably leading with 5.0 points after winning all five rounds. Candidate Masters Kh. Bayasgalan and B. Mungunzul are with 4.5 points in second, and the chess players from Vietnam and the Philippines are currently occupying third place.

 

The sixth round of games is underway, and the champions will be determined on May 2, 2025.
