State Lion Batmagnai Wins ‘Chinggis Khaan’ Cup

Ulaanbaatar, November 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In honor of the 863rd anniversary of the birth of Chinggis Khaan and the National Pride Day of Mongolia, a high-ranking wrestling tournament was held between 128 elite wrestlers who competed for the “Chinggis Khaan” Cup.
The tournament brought together high-ranking wrestlers, holding national, aimag, military, and soum titles, led by State Grand Champion Batsuuri Namsraijav and State Champion Khangai Orgikh. Wrestler of the “Aldar” Sports Committee and “Terguun Bogd” camp from Jinst soum of Bayankhongor aimag, Batmagnai Enkhtuvshin, who had won the Presidential Cup in 2024, secured the Chinggis Khaan Cup after seven consecutive victories. Member of the “Aldar” Sports Committee and wrestler of the “Bukhbilegt” camp from Khashaat soum of Arkhangai aimag, young holder of the State Elephant wrestling title, Sukhbat Sukhbaatar claimed second place.
State Elephant Jargalbayar Negdel from Mandal soum, Selenge aimag, and Aimag Sharp Lion Altantsooj Davaasuren from Umnudelger soum, Khentii aimag, reached the semi-finals. The top eight included State Lion Sodnomdorj Tsedev, Elephant Purevsaikhan Baatarkhuu, Elephant Bat-Ulzii Bayarkhuu, and Falcon Dash Erdenebat. State Falcon Dash, who won last year’s “National Pride Day” tournament as the inaugural cup holder and placed second in both 2016 and 2017, reached the quarterfinals this time.
In this competition, Soum Elephant Mandakhbayar Munkhbat defeated the State Grand Champion Batsuuri in the first round. Meanwhile, Soum Elephant Munkhtulga Darmaabazar caused major excitement among the audience by defeating right-wing leader, State Champion Khangai in the first round, State Lion Oyunbold in the second round, and State Lion Byamba-Otgon in the third round, before finally losing to State Lion Sodnomdorj in the round of 16.
