Historic Success at World Powerlifting Championships

Ulaanbaatar, November 17, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 2025 IPF World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships were held on November 10-16, 2025, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, featuring the three disciplines of bench press, squat, and deadlift. Five Mongolian athletes participated under the guidance of Honored Coach Battulga Dambajantsag, achieving a historic milestone as two athletes won silver medals overall.
In the men’s -120 kg category, Saifolla Tillyeubyerd lifted 440 kg in the squat, earning gold in that discipline, and 360 kg in the deadlift, earning bronze. With a total of 1,097.5 kg, he secured the silver medal in the overall standings.
In the women’s 84 kg category, Munkhzul
Sodnomdorj lifted 252.5 kg in the squat
and 232.5 kg in the deadlift, earning silver
medals in both events. With a total of 620 kg,
she also won the silver medal overall. This marks the first time in Mongolian
powerlifting history that athletes have medaled in the overall total.
Additionally, in the men’s 59 kg category, Nanzaddorj Erdenebold lifted 245 kg in the squat and 170 kg in the bench press, earning bronze medals in both disciplines.
