Nationwide campaign running to promote wearing masks
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On April 11, the State Emergency Commission (SEC) convened to make some decisions on timely matters concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. As of the today, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 17, and four of them were already recovered and released from hospital.

Government to bear expenses of Tavan Tolgoi Power Plant project
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At its regular weekly meeting held today, the cabinet decided to build 450 MW Tavan Tolgoi Power Plant (TTPP) in Umnugobi aimag between 2020 and 2024, based on a ready-made feasibility study of 2013, analyses on its water and coal supply and infrastructure facilities, and environment assessments, without changing its current location in the Tavan Tolgoi coal mining area.

Mongolia using Avigan flu drug to treat coronavirus
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At today’s daily briefing of the Ministry of Health, Director of National Center of Communicable Diseases (NCCD) D.Nyamkhuu mentioned that Mongolia has started using a Japan-developed anti-influenza drug known as Avigan, which appeared to be effective in coronavirus patients.

Substandard or unauthorized outdoor advertising signs to be removed
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Last week, Specialized Inspection Agency informed that there are 379 buildings and structures with potential dangers to the residents in Ulaanbaatar city. Upon an order of Ulaanbaatar city Mayor, a working team conducted an inspection in nine districts of Ulaanbaatar city to locate structures that could cause harm to public health safety and found safety defects on 379 structures and their surrounding areas.

266 Mongolians evacuated from Japan
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A chartered plane carrying 266 Mongolian nationals today landed at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport. There were 14 infants, more than 30 seniors and 3 pregnant women among the passengers. The plane also carried 1,284 kg of freight, reported the Ministry of Road and Transport Development.

The World Bank approves $26.9 million for Mongolia’s COVID-19 emergency response
