UB Mayor to visit Hanoi city

On August 23, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mongolia Doan Thi Huong. At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor S.Amarsaikhan expressed his gratitude for the development of bilateral ties and cooperation between Mongolia and Vietnam on the occasion of 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations.
60-km road newly built in Bayan-Ulgii as part of western region road network
During his working trip to the Bayan-Ulgii aimag, Minister of Road and Transport Development B.Enkh-Amgalan has examined the progress of the construction of a 60-km long road from Khashaat to Tolbo in the Bayan-Ulgii aimag. It was reported that the construction is now completed and the road opened to vehicles. The construction, executed by Chinese "China Huashi Enterprises” company, started in 2015.

Mongolia welcomes 215 thousand tourists in the first half of 2019
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism reported Mongolia received around 215.780 tourists in the first half of 2019. Compared to the same period of last year, the number increased by 6.4 percent or 13 thousand tourists. The highest number of foreign tourists came from Taiwan, China, which is 2020 tourists. The number of Taiwanese tourists to travel in Mongolia increased by 30 percent from that of last year.
Fitch on Mongolia 2019 discusses Mongolia’s mining and banking sector outlook
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. International credit rating agency Fitch ratings organized “Fitch on Mongolia 2019” forum in Ulaanbaatar on August 21. Being hosted for the third year, the forum brought together analysts and guests from leading institutions to discuss about opportunities and challenges the Mongolian economy faces today. This year, the Fitch on Mongolia 2019 focused on the Mongolia’s economic and banking sector, its policy challenges as well as mining industry of the country.
State policy on tourism approved
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On August 21, State Policy on Tourism was approved by the cabinet. Corresponding ministers Environment and Tourism Minister N.Tserenbat, Finance Minister Ch.Khurelbaatar and National Development Agency Director B.Bayarsaikhan were assigned to allocate the required financing in the annual economic and social development directions, state budget and state investment programs as well as in the international organizations’ loan and assistances or fund with the help of public-private partnerships.
Khuvsgul Lake area to be developed as eco-tourism zone

During its meeting held on August 21, the Cabinet approved a resolution to make an area around the Khuvsgul Lake an Eco-tourism region in order to safeguard the eco-system of the Lake and develop sustainable and environment-friendly tourism. The Khuvsgul Lake, containing almost 70 percent of Mongolia's fresh water, is one of the most popular tourism destinations of Mongolia and surrounded by beautiful landscapes.
Cultural events to be held for diplomatic anniversary of Mongolia and China
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A plan to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relation between Mongolia and China was signed by the heads of state of Mongolia and China during the Belt and Road Forum held last April. A series of humanitarian and cultural events will be held on from August 30 to September 6 in Ulaanbaatar city. Today, on August 21, officials from the Chinese side presented about the planned events.
129.4 km paved road between Bayankhongor soum and Baidrag Bridge opens
A new 129.4 kilometer paved road from Bayankhongor soum center to Baidrag Bridge in Bayankhongor aimag opened for vehicles. The road allows western aimags to be connected to the country’s horizontal auto roads.

Mongolian artist attends world’s largest Khuumei Festival

Throat singers from Russia, China, Mongolia, USA, Finland, France and Japan gathered for the festival. Representing Mongolia, artist, head of the World Khuumei Association D.Khosbayar attended the festival.
Mongolian-Russian joint military drill launches
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolian-Russian joint military tactical training “Selenge-2019” started at the training field of the 327th military unit of the military armed forces in Choibalsan city, Dornod aimag. The military exercise, involving more than 1500 military personnel of the two countries, will last until August 27 in Choibalsan city.

Boao Forum for Asia Ulaanbaatar kicks off
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Side events of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) began today on August 19. A mini Naadam festival was organized for the participants and guests of the conference at the Chinggisiin Khuree tourism camp. Opening the festival, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar, noted that the Naadam Festival, celebrated by the Mongols since time immemorial, is a complex celebration of culture and sports, demonstrating the nomadic traditions and heritage and was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO.
No meat exports and imports during harvest to ensure stable food supply
This year, a total of 361 thousand ha of land was sown, according to Ch.Ulaan, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry. Crop harvests in Bulgan, Khuvsgul, Orkhon, Arkhangai and Selenge aimags is predicted to be normal. However, in some regions, including Tuv, Darkhan-Uul, Dornod, Khentii, Uvurkhangai and Uvs aimags and northern part Selenge aimag, harvests are likely to decline due to droughts and overheating.
