Mongolian students present innovative ideas
Mongolian students presented their innovative solutions, experiments and ideas during the exhibition of Mongolian University of Science and Technology held on April 27. From among these brilliant creators of new generation, some remarkable innovations including anti-stroke Smartphone application, alcohol sensor and green house smart system were displayed on the exhibition.

ADB 50-Year History Book Launched
An ADB History Book, Banking on the Future of Asia and the Pacific: 50 Years of the Asian Development Bank, was released today at ADB’s 50th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Yokohama. It details ADB’s activities from its origin in 1966, decade by decade to the present day. It also illustrates the genesis of ADB regarding different proposals from across Asia and the Pacific, preparatory meetings in Bangkok, Manila and other cities, and collaboration of people within and outside the region to discuss the Charter, membership, and location of the Headquarters.

Construction of National Burn Center to resume
Construction of the National Burn Center of the National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Centre of Mongolia will resume thanks to the nonrefundable aid USD 8 million by the Government of Kuwait, reports the Ministry of Health. The construction of the treatment center building has been stagnant for 8 years due to financial issues.

Raft on Selenge River is serving for shortcut
A raft started to serve people on the Selenge River in Teel bag of Khutag-Undur soum, Bulgan aimag. In request of some herders, who reside in Atsad of Teel bag, on the opposite side of the river, the soum authorities made a decision to operate the raft with scheduled time from 07 a.m to 10 p.m, appointing two men in charge of operation. The raft allows Teel bag citizens to travel to the soum center directly as well as travelers to Bayan-Agt soum or Khanui spring resort to take a shortcut to main road, in route of Khuvsgul aimag.

Mongolians and Croatians start enjoying mutual visa-free regime
Bearers of diplomatic and official passports of Mongolia and Croatia are enjoying 30-day visa-waiver starting May 1. Governments of the two countries signed the agreement on visa-waiver in July 2016.

International young leaders' LEAD Summit being held in Ulaanbaatar
Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg delivered an opening remarks at the “LEAD Summit”, which was commenced on May 03. The event is being held by the collaboration of the U.S. Embassy, International Republican Institute Mongolia, United States Agency for International Development and “World Learning” between May 2 and 5.

76.8 percent of Mongolian land suffers from desertification
According to the Report on Environmental State For 2015-2016, 76.8 percent of the Mongolian territory has been struck by desertification as a consequence of fast-spreading dryness in the recent years. The report was presented by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Ms D.Oyunkhorol at a cabinet meeting.

On May 7-10, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is going to pay an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of J.Erdenebat, Prime Minister of Mongolia.

The Carmen Suite ballet to be performed
A night of classic arts event by ballet dancer of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet A.Ulzii-Orshikh will take place on May 15 at the theatre. A.Ulzii-Orshikh is a talented soloist who has been successfully performing for well-known classical, modern and traditional ballet plays, including Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Spartacus and Uran Khas for the past 15 years.

Jason Allford: IMF and WB are ready if Parliament makes its decision certain
Today, May 04, Head of Cabinet Secretariat, Minister J.Munkhbat met with the World Bank representatives, headed by Jason Allford, the Executive Director of the World Bank Group representing Mongolia and some other countries. Minister J.Munkhbat noted that protecting investors’ rights in legal frame is one of the priorities of the Government and a council in charge of protecting investors’ rights was established by an order of Prime Minister. He expressed his thanks to the World Bank for granting financial support within the IMF program to Mongolia.
