AmCham business meeting held on 'Development solutions of Mongolia'

Mongolia’s industrial output figures shows increase of MNT 1.1 trillion
In the first 5 months of 2018, the gross industrial output reached MNT 6.0 trillion, showing an increase of MNT 1.1 trillion (23.3%) from the same period of the previous year. The main factor of this increase was due to an increase of mining and quarrying gross output by MNT 827.1 billion (23.7%), of which mining of coal by MNT 511.2 billion (48.0%) and mining of metal ores by MNT 252.0 (12.6%) billion.

Youth aged 15-34 make up more than half of total unemployed
At the end of May 2018, the Labor and Social Welfare Services Agencies have registered 35.6 thousand job seekers, of which 24.0 thousand or 67.5% were unemployed and remaining 11.6 thousand or 32.5% were employed but looking for a new job.

Total foreign trade turnover shows increase of 26.5 percent
In the first 5 months of 2018, Mongolia traded with 131 countries from all over the world and total trade turnover reached USD 5.1 billion, of which USD 2.9 billion were made up by exports and USD 2.2 billion by imports.

Bank of Mongolia launches gold campaign
The Bank of Mongolia (BoM) started a five-month campaign ‘National Gold to the Fund of Treasures’ under the ‘GOLD-2’ national program. Spring sowing running at 60 percent nationwide
As of May 31, grains have been sown on 293.9 thousand ha nationwide, potato -- 9.0 thousand ha, vegetables – 3.5 thousand ha, oil plants – 26.2 thousand ha, or 342.9 ha in total. By doing so, overall nationwide sowing is running at about 60 percent on average.
