Mongolia's UN envoy addresses UN General Assembly's Second Committee

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) of the General Assembly at its seventy-fifth session kicked off on October 5, to deal with issues relating to economic growth and development such as macroeconomic policy questions; financing for development; sustainable development; human settlements; globalization and interdependence; eradication of poverty; operational activities for development; agriculture development, food security and nutrition; information and communication technologies for development; and towards global partnerships. The Second Committee is also considering issues relating to groups of countries in special situations.
Enkhbold Vorshilov, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations addressed the general debate of the Second Committee on October 8, presenting about the Mongolian government’s policy for social and economic development and actions and measures being taken to overcome the pandemic difficulties with minimum losses.
After noting that Mongolia strives to reinforce partnership with its neighboring and other countries of the world and increase its participation in the regional economic integration, Permanent Representative Enkhbold stressed that the Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries, which was established under Mongolia’s initiative, plays an important role in efforts for sustainable growth of developing countries and called for support from UN member states, development partners and other stakeholders in the Think Tank’s activities.
