Foreign Ministers of Mongolia and Poland hold official talks

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On June 6, Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg held official talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and OSCE Chairperson-in-office Zbigniew Rau, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia. The official talks touched on a wide range of issues on Mongolia-Poland bilateral relations and regional and international cooperation.
Expressing satisfaction with the active development of traditionally friendly relations between Mongolia and Poland, the Ministers exchanged views on further objectives and activities of bilateral cooperation. In particular, the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the spheres of trade, economy, digital development, education, culture, and environment was discussed.
Underscoring the importance of high-level visits in further strengthening bilateral relations, the sides exchanged views on the visits planned in the near future.
The Ministers noted that the trade turnover between the two countries has been increasing in recent years and agreed to establish an intergovernmental agreement on international road transport in the near future.
Minister B.Battsetseg welcomed the reopening of the Embassy of Poland in Ulaanbaatar, emphasizing that it is important not only for bilateral relations and cooperation but also for strengthening people-to-people ties.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the results of the
political consultations between the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the
Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Poland and reaffirmed to
implement the initiatives agreed upon during the meetings.
Introducing the Mongolian Government’s New Revival Policy
aimed at reviving and intensifying the economy, Minister B.Battsetseg
underlined the possibilities of cooperation in large-scale joint projects such
as the Tavan Tolgoi Thermal Power Plant.
The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations.
During the joint press conference held following the
official talks, Minister Zbigniew Rau said, “During my visit to Mongolia as the
OSCE Chairman-in-Office for 2022, I was honored to meet with President
U.Khurelsukh and other government officials. This year marks the 10th
anniversary of Mongolia's accession to the OSCE as the 57th member. We commend
Mongolia for being an active member of the OSCE and for its fruitful
cooperation in the past. I am pleased that Mongolia respects human rights and
freedoms and is fulfilling its OSCE commitments. During the talks, the
discussions were held on expanding Mongolia-Poland relations and cooperation in
many fields such as trade, economy, culture, and environment. I am confident
that our two countries will make substantial progress in these areas. As the
OSCE Chairperson-in-office, I would like to reaffirm that the organization
stands ready to support Mongolia in achieving its development and reform
goals."
