Postage Stamps Titled 'Mongolian Intangible Cultural Heritage Inscribed on UNESCO – 2' Issued

Ulaanbaatar, December 23, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The unveiling ceremony of a new series of postage stamps titled “Mongolian Intangible Cultural Heritage Inscribed on UNESCO – 2,” consisting of two souvenir sheets and six postal stamps, was held on December 19, 2025, at the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia.
As of 2024, Mongolia has inscribed a total of 17 elements of intangible cultural heritage on UNESCO’s Representative List. In 2019, Mongol Post JSC issued the first series of postage stamps under the theme “Mongolian Intangible Cultural Heritage Inscribed on UNESCO,” consisting of two blocks and five stamp designs.
As a continuation of this work, the Mongol Post JSC released
the second series, which features two souvenir sheets and six stamps depicting
eight elements of Mongolia’s intangible cultural heritage.
These include: the Mongolian Epic (2009); Traditional Art of Mongolian Khuumii (2010); Mongolian Naadam (2010); the Traditional Technique of Performing Long Songs by Mongolian Limbe Players – Circular Breathing (2011); the Traditional Craftsmanship and Associated Customs of the Mongol Ger (2013); the Camel Coaxing Ritual (Botgo Avakhuulakh) (2015); the Mongolian Custom of Worshipping Sacred Mountains and Ovoos (2017); and the Tradition of Fermenting Airag in a Khokhuur and Related Customs (2019).
With the release of this series, 15 of Mongolia’s 17
intangible cultural heritage elements inscribed on UNESCO’s lists have now been
featured on postage stamps.
The stamps were printed in the French Republic and are
available for purchase at postal branches in both urban and rural areas across
the country.
