North-East Asian Mayors’ Forum taking place in Ulaanbaatar
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia’s capital city is hosting the second North-East Asian Mayors’ Forum under a theme “Green City Development”, on September 21 and 22. The Forum began Monday at the Consensus Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Opening speech was given by the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul. He highlighted that the first NEA Mayors’ Forum, held last year in Ulaanbaatar, resulted in a great success, having considered the issues of ensuring sustainable urban development, rapid urbanization and environmental degradation caused by high population density, and having strengthened the cooperation between the cities.
According to the Mayor, this action is anticipating on a regional level the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, which will run this November 30-December 11 in Paris of France.
The forum will be divided into seven sub-conferences. The participants are having three sub-conferences on Day 1, themed “Green Development Perspectives, Challenges and Strategies of North-East Asian cities”, “Green Infrastructure” and “Green Lifestyle and Education”.
