'EBI' scholarship program commences

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ “The decreasing number of scholars pursuing Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Mongolian studies has become a challenge”, said E.Erdene,  Chairman of the Board of Elbegdorj Institute (EBI).

He was speaking at the launch of the 2017 ‘EBI’ Scholarship Program for International Young Mongolists on August 7, Monday at the National Museum. “Training of the next generation of Mongolists will be a solution to advancing Mongolian studies worldwide”, he said.

Nine Mongolists from countries such as the Russian Federation, the Republic of India and the Republic of Korea were selected for the scholarship on the basis of their Mongolian language proficiency levels.

The scholarship covers the period from 07–18 August 2017. Scholarship recipients visit to the Center for Mongolian studies, and cultural and academic facilities in Ulaanbaatar, attend lectures delivered by renowned scholars and visit to the countryside to get acquainted with the customs and lifestyles of the Mongols.

National Council of Mongolian Studies, 'Mongolian foundation' NGO and ‘EBI’ Institute are co-organizing the program which aims to encourage and support undergraduate students in a field of Mongolian Studies at the international universities, provide opportunities to learn the Mongolian language intensively and to become acquainted with the culture and lifestyles of the Mongols.
