Prime Minister receives Canadian Ambassador

On February 18, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene received  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia Catherine Ivkoff.

At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted that Canada takes up an important position Mongolia’s ‘third neighbor’ policy and leads in terms of investment lows into Mongolia. 

“The government of Mongolia is committed to elevate the bilateral relationship of Mongolia and Canada to a new level, and there are possibilities and resources to develop partnership and cooperation in all areas as the two countries share the same democratic values and similar climate conditions.” said the PM. 

For her part, the Canadian Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister for his appointment and expressed her confidence that the country’s business industry will revive, opening up job places, increasing population income and resuming international and domestic passenger movements as a result of the measures being taken to reduce transmission of the coronavirus and vaccinate the population. 

Ambassador Catherine Ivkoff also noted about the effective implementation of Canadian development programs in Mongolia, such as programs for improvement of extractive industry management, strengthening of civil service, women empowerment and promotion of gender equality.
