Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On February 9, Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Khural of the Capital City J.Batbayasgalan received executives of the ‘Gazprombank’ of Russia to discuss cooperation.

At the start of the meeting, the Russian bank executives expressed their interest in establishing a joint unit. Director of the Bank’s Gas and Oil Project Department, Director General of Cryogas LLC V.O.Smelov informed about plans to produce environmentally-friendly natural gas products and supply them for the use of vehicles as well as large buses that are being utilized for Ulaanbaatar city public transport, and construct liquefied natural gas factories and stations in cities such as Irkutsk in the future.

“In order to launch mutually-beneficial cooperation, it is necessary for the authorities of Mongolia’s capital city to provide support and hold discussions in phases to reach an agreement.
A certain amount of policy support is also needed to introduce gas as fuel for vehicles in Ulaanbaatar city.”

In turn, Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Khural of the Capital City J.Batbayasgalan said, “The capital city and its corresponding agencies and departments are currently focusing on increasing the use of environmentally-friendly energy sources in order to reduce the sources of pollutants in the air and soil. It is a pleasure to cooperate in introducing a proper solution that has had significant results.”

During the meeting, the Gazprombank representatives noted that despite the increasing use of liquefied gas in the capital city, a study has found that there are certain factors causing difficulties, such as interruptions in the supply of source, commodities, and fuel as well as the limited number of factories that run operations. The capital city authorities highlighted the importance of increasing the number of buses being operated for public transport with the use of natural gas.
