Subsidy of MNT 100,000 to be provided for each ton of domestically grown vegetables
映像During today’s regular meeting of the Cabinet, a resolution to support vegetable production was approved.
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Z.Mendsaikhan said at the press conference held following the Cabinet meeting that the resolution is in line with the Atar-4 Campaign’s objectives to fully secure domestic demand for vegetables grown in the country and become an exporter.
Within the framework of the above resolution, it was decided to give a subsidy of MNT 100 thousand per ton of domestically grown vegetables. It has also been decided to reduce the price of energy used by greenhouse farmers from October 15 to May 1 each year between 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. The resolution also provides for an 80 percent reduction in the price of vegetables, crops, and greenhouse crops purchased with state budget investment during this year's spring sowing.
It is planned to allocate MNT 13.8 billion from the Agricultural Support Fund for spring sowing this year. According to the estimation, it requires 22.5 thousand tons of fuel for this year's spring sowing and autumn harvest. Therefore, MNT 6.5 billion worth of fuel will be provided to farmers with a 50-percent down payment, and fertilizers will be provided at a 30 percent discount. The Minister emphasized that the farmers are allowed to pay off the rest after the autumn harvest.
In addition, today's Cabinet meeting decided to create grain reserves to ensure the food security of the population. In this context, 50.4 thousand tons of unsold grain from last year’s harvesting will be purchased by the Agricultural Support Fund before the start of spring sowing.
