Tulga Reignites Olympic Hope with Bishkek Gold
SocietyUlaanbaatar, June 7, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The Bishkek Ranking Series 2023, also known as the Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul & Raatbek Sanatbaev wrestling series, was held on June 1-4.
At 65kg, Tulga Tumur-Ochir (MGL) captured his third straight Ranking Series gold medal after beating Alibek Osmonov (KGZ), 5-2.
As usual, Tulga began with his underhooks and pressured his opponents before scoring the points. His journey to the final started with a decisive 4-0 victory over Abdulmazhid Kudiev (TJK) followed by a humdinger against Umidjon Jalolov (UZB), which the Mongolian won 6-5.
In the semifinals, Tulga outperformed Meirzhan Ashirov from Kazakhstan with a score of 8-4, setting the stage for his showdown against Alibek Usmanov. Although Osmonov proved him a formidable opponent and effectively defended Tulga's underhooks, Tulga quickly adapted and resumed his preferred attacking style. After an intense six-minute match, Tulga emerged victorious with a final score of 8-4.
Mongolia wrapped up the Ranking Series 2023 with eight medals (gold - 2, silver - 4, and bronze - 2).
