Ulaanbaatar, December 11, 2024 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa visited “Nuudelchin Agro Farm” LLC and “Harumafuji Dairy Farm” within the framework of the “Food Supply and Security” National Movement.

“Nomad Agro Farm” LLC established a dairy farm cluster complex in Tuv aimag with 400 dairy cows in Bayandelger soum in 2018, 480 cows in Argalant soum in 2020, and 240 in Bayankhangai soum in 2023. The farm cluster complexes, involving ten herder households per cluster, have provided herders opportunities to earn income, improve their livelihoods, and own land.

A herder family of B. Orgil has been engaged in farming since 2024. This household has 18 cows and sells an average of 18 liters of milk per day. The head of the family Orgil noted that the Government's milk incentive policy greatly supports farmers.

Currently, around 100 people from 30 households in the three farms have permanent jobs, supplying domestic dairy industries with 9 million liters of milk so far.

To expand the milk market and support herders, an incentive of MNT 1,000 is provided for each liter of industrially processed milk. "If this incentive is provided throughout the year, it will be a strong impetus for herder cooperatives to expand their operation," emphasized Director of “Nuudelchin Agro Farm” LLC J. Battugs. Director J. Battugs expressed his gratitude for the improvement of the legal environment within the framework of the "Food Supply and Security" National Movement, providing preferential loans to national enterprises, and supporting them with tax policies.

The Director also presented the company’s plan to import 1,000 purebred cows for milk and meat, which are necessary for the development of cluster farms, and requested government support for creating a select herd by 2030.

On the same day, President Khurelsukh visited the “Harumafuji Dairy Farm” operating in Bayankhangai soum, Tuv aimag.

"The first step was to rehabilitate 200 hectares of degraded land and cultivate corn as cattle feed, and start building a dairy factory in 2023," according to Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Tsuna Mongol Dai” LLC D. Byambadorj, and CEO N. Boldbaatar.

The farm supplies 200 grams of milk per day to 1,800 students of “Shine Mongol Harumafuji” School and also sells the products through the “Nomin” and “E-mart” chain stores. The farm aims to gradually increase production to supply milk for school students besides “Shine Mongol Harumafuji.”

“Harumafuji Dairy Farm” is a no-waste eco-intensive livestock farm with more than 100 cows of the French Montbeliarde breed that produces 35-40 liters of milk per day.

Having the latest advanced equipment and fully automatic milking machines, the farm uses the pasteurization method, which processes milk in a vacuum environment without reacting with air, and sterilizes it by heating to a certain temperature without affecting the taste, quality, and nutritional value of raw milk.

About 1,700 people are employed in 206 dairy factories, 77 workshops, and cooling centers throughout Mongolia.

The demand for liquid milk is fully met by domestic production, with 51 percent of milk products supplied domestically and 49 percent imported. The producers believe that the national dairy product demand can be fully satisfied domestically and stop the outflow of foreign exchanges, when highly profitable farming is developed.

Within the framework of the “Food Supply and Security” National Movement, national enterprises have the opportunity to expand their production and introduce new equipment and technologies, and now it is necessary to support them through clusters, noted the producers and relevant officials. According to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, the number of herders, intensive livestock farmers, and local milk factories eligible for milk incentives is increasing every year. Specifically, the number of milk factories has grown as follows.

In 2020-2021, 8 milk factories and workshops in 4 aimags (Ulaanbaatar, Tuv, Selenge, Darkhan-Uul),

In 2021-2022, 12 factories and workshops in 5 aimags (Ulaanbaatar, Tuv, Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon),

In 2022-2023, 15 factories and workshops in 7 aimags,

in 2023-2024, 24 factories and workshops in 11 aimags.

As a result, the raw milk supply, which was 6.8 million liters in 2020, increased year after year to 29.1 million liters in 2024.

For 2024-2025, a total of 32 factories and workshops in 14 aimags have been selected to be eligible for the milk incentive.
