Ulaanbaatar, February 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The first Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of the “Promoting Cleantech Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Green Jobs in Mongolia” (GCIP Mongolia) project was successfully held online on February 21, 2025.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Development Solutions NGO, and the Climate Change Research and Cooperation Center will jointly implement the four-year project with funding of USD 1.78 million from the Global Environment Facility.
The “Promoting Cleantech Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Green Jobs in Mongolia” (GCIP Mongolia) project aims at promoting cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship to support green job creation. It is designed to foster a low-carbon, sustainable economy in Mongolia by supporting startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), researchers, policymakers, international investors, and financial institutions.
The project will support cleantech startups through an accelerator program to help them scale and attract investments. It will also enhance financial mechanisms for SMEs, connecting them with international investors, while developing policy recommendations to integrate global best practices and adapt innovative technologies to Mongolia. Additionally, a knowledge-sharing platform will be created to facilitate cleantech innovation and strengthen stakeholder collaboration.
A detailed overview of the project’s structure, implementation plan, and expected outcomes were presented at the meeting and the attendants exchanged views on strengthening cooperation and ensuring effective project implementation.
