Dagvadorj Davaasuren Wins International Opera Singers’ Competition

Ulaanbaatar, September 9, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Dagvadorj Davaasuren has won the International Opera Singers’ Competition held at the renowned “Opera at the Castle” Theatre in Szczecin, the Republic of Poland.


Specifically, eight singers from Mongolia, China, the Republic of Korea, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Cuba advanced to the final stage of the “XXV Great Tenors Tournament.” Representing Mongolia, Dagvadorj, a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre of the Russian Federation, secured first place. In addition to the top prize, he was also awarded the Special Prize of the Organizer and the Opera Orchestra Award for Best Singer.


From 2010 to 2019, opera singer Dagvadorj Davaasuren worked with the Erdenet Song and Dance Ensemble, and from 2019 to 2022, he was a soloist of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Buryatia. Since October 2024, he has been performing as a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre.


In 2021, he was a finalist of the Vincero World Singing Competition in Naples, Italy, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the passing of legendary tenor Enrico Caruso. He also took first place at the 12th International Isaac Dunaevsky Song Competition and the International Opera Singers’ “Sui” Competition, as well as winning the Grand Prix at the 13th International Opera Singers’ Competition named after People’s Artist of the USSR L.L. Likhovoin.
