Russian Mongolist Scholar Anna Tsendina Awarded Honorary Doctorate

/MONTSAME/. The Russian
Mongolist scholar Anna Damdinovna Tsendina has been awarded the title of
Honorary Doctorate by the Institute of Mongolian Studies under the National
University of Mongolia (NUM).
Based on the institute’s
regulations on conferring honorary degrees and the decision of the Academic
Council, the title was granted in recognition of her significant contributions
to the study of Mongolian history and culture and to the development of
Mongolian studies.
The Honorary Doctorate title conferment
ceremony, which took place on October 20, 2025, at the NUM Central Building, was
attended by senior scholars, professors, researchers, and students of Dr. Tsendina.
Anna Damdinovna Tsendina worked as
an announcer for the State Committee for Radio and Television of the USSR from
1977 to 1990, as a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the
Russian Academy of Sciences from 1990 to 2005, as a professor at the Institute
of Oriental and Classical Studies of the Russian State University for the
Humanities since 2005, and since 2017, as a professor at the Higher School of
Economics.
Over her distinguished career, Dr.
Tsendina has received numerous awards, including the Moscow 850th Anniversary
Medal (1997), the Ts. Damdinsuren Academic Prize, the Best Mongolist Award
(2008), the Khubilai Khaan Medal—the highest award of the Mongolian Academy of
Sciences (2014), and the Friendship Medal of Mongolia (2014). In 2017, she was
honored with the title Honored Scientist of Mongolia by a decree of the
President of Mongolia for her outstanding contributions to Mongolian studies.
Dr. Tsendsina has been actively collaborating with the Institute of Mongolian Studies at NUM to promote and disseminate the academic legacy of Academician Ts. Damdinsuren. She has edited and published many important works, including the Collected Academic Works of Ts. Damdinsuren (9 volumes), The Mongolian Altangerel Sutra, The Molon Toyin Sutra, Historical Manuscripts, Catalog of Mongolian Books and Scriptures of the Ts. Damdinsuren Home Museum, Catalog of Tibetan Scriptures of the Ts. Damdinsuren Home Museum, On the Collection of Mongolian and Tibetan Scriptures of the Ts. Damdinsuren Home Museum, and Ts. Damdinsuren’s Diaries.
