/MONTSAME/ The fourth Asian Public Housing Forum is being held today, within
the framework of the 380th anniversary of the capital city, to find
ways to address challenges to the development of government housing policies
in Asian cities, increase citizen participation, exchange experience, and
intensify cooperation.
The forum is being attended by Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan, Head of the Capital City Housing Corporation (NOSK) B.Sukhbaatar, and representatives from housing authorities of six Asian countries.
In his
opening remarks, Governor S.Amarsaikhan said, “The Ulaanbaatar Municipality and
the Government of Mongolia are smoothly implementing specific projects and
programs to meet housing demand, support housing finance, and to provide people
with low interest, long term housing mortgages”
Noting the importance of public housing in easing centralization and reducing air and environmental pollution, the Mayor joyfully informed that multiple housing options such as affordable housing units, rental apartments, and rent to own homes have been introduced.
“We are
working to increase citizen and private sector participation in every
construction project and strengthen public-private partnership and
international cooperation,” he added.
At the forum, municipal delegates from Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines and Paris city of the guest country France are having discussions on their public housing policies and housing finance systems, opportunities and necessities for the development of rental housing, and public–private–people partnerships.
“A very important forum for discussions on the ways to cope with government housing
policy problems in Asian cities, public-private partnership, rental housing
finance system, and affordable green housing units is taking place here. Housing
is the only solution to the problem of air and soil pollution in the capital
city. We are thus exploring housing policies and successfully implemented projects
and programs of the Asian countries” Mr. B.Sukhbaatar said.
