Honored Athlete Tserenchimed Sukhee Secures her Third Medal from the World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, October 31, 2024, /MONTSAME/. Honored Athlete of Mongolia Tserenchimed Sukhee secured a silver medal at the 2024 World Wrestling Championships in non-Olympic weight divisions, taking place in Tirana, the Republic of Albania, on October 28-31, 2024.
Specifically, in the 59kg weight category, Ms. Tserenchimed Sukhee lost to Japanese wrestler Risako Kawai, with a score of 4:2, in the finals. Thus, the Mongolian athlete has claimed her third medal from the World Wrestling Championships, one gold and two silver medals.
In 2014, at just 19 years old, Tserenchimed secured her first gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships, raising the Mongolian flag and making the National Anthem of Mongolia resonate on the world stage. A year later, in 2015, she reached the finals again and won a silver medal, becoming a two-time medalist at the World Championships by the age of 20.
Her opponent, Risako Kawai, claimed her fourth gold medal at the World Championships. In her five appearances at the World Championships finals, she previously lost to Hero of Labor of Mongolia Battsetseg Soronzonbold in 2015 in 27 seconds, earning a silver medal. She remains unbeaten by any other competitor. Moreover, Ms. Risako Kawai is a two-time Olympic gold medalist.
Japanese wrestlers dominated three out of the four women’s non-Olympic weight divisions, while Chinese wrestler Jia Long won the gold in the 65kg category. Overall, Japanese athletes secured three golds and one bronze, whereas Chinese wrestlers brought home one gold and one silver. Mongolia, Romania, and Kazakhstan each won one silver, the United States claimed two bronze medals, and Belarus and the Czech Republic each received one bronze medal at the 2024 World Wrestling Championships in non-Olympic weight divisions.
