"Tengeriin Elch" Historical Opera to Delight Audiences

Ulaanbaatar, December 19, 2024 /MONTSAME/. In commemoration of the 385th anniversary of Ulaanbaatar city, the artists of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia are preparing to present a new Historical Opera, "Tengeriin Elch" (Heaven Envoy) composed by People's Artist of Mongolia Enkhtaivan Agvaantseren.
The Opera will be performed on December 28-29, 2024. The libretto was written by Distinguished Artists of Mongolia L. Davaasuren and B. Enkhtuya, with S. Battulga serving as the director. The music was composed by People's Artist of Mongolia Enkhtaivan, with State Honored Actor of Mongolia D. Altankhuyag as the executive producer and Ts. Telmuun-Ochir as the conductor. This marks the theatre's second new production in 2024, introducing audiences to the National Historical Opera "Tengeriin Elch."
This Opera tells the story of Temuujin, who, after losing the eight dun horses inherited from his father Yesukhei Baatar, sets out in search of them across the plains of Nariin Uvsnii Nalarkhai and reaches the Khukhuur Valley. Along the way, Temuujin meets Boorchi, the son of Nahu Bayan from the Aralud tribe, and forms a lifelong bond of brotherhood. The narrative follows their journey of uniting the Great Mongol Empire and establishing order, showing Boorchi's unswering loyalty and the profound friendship between the two men, earning him the title of the "Tengeriin Elch."
