French company to study possibility of solar plant at Auto Trade Complex
A study on possibility to establish solar power plant on an open parking area of the Auto Trade Complex will be conducted by “Akyo Energy” company of the French Republic.  Today, April 25, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Governor of the Capital and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City S.Batbold, Chairman of Auto Trade Complex, local government-owned company O.Mungunshagai and a representative of the Akyo Energy Company.

Antler gathering prohibited in forest steppe areas
D.Oyunkhorol, Minister of Environment and Tourism has issued a resolution to prohibit antler gathering in the forest steppe zones during the dry season of spring in order to prevent fire hazard. The resolution is valid annually from March 20 through June 10 and between September 20 and November 10.  Since the beginning of this year, a total of 35 forest fires has occured nationwide caused by people travelling in the area, collecting antlers or harvesting pine nuts.

Mongolia tourist arrivals reaches 76.6 thousand in first quarter of 2017
Mongolia’s Visitor Arrivals recorded 629.3 thousand persons in the first quarter of 2017 and 552.8 thousand of them were permanent residents. In relation to the data, Tourist Arrivals recorded 76.6 thousand, which is 12 percent of the Visitor Arrivals. According to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the number reached an all-time high of 475.8 thousand in 2012.

Consular issues discussed at Mongolian-South Korean Foreign Ministries' meeting
The ninth consular consultative meeting between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea took place on April 24, in Ulaanbaatar. The meeting was chaired by Director of the Consular Department of the Mongolian Foreign Ministry Ya.Ariunbold from the Mongolian side and Ambassador for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Han Dong-man from the South Korean side.

On April 24, Head of a lobby group in the parliament to back responsible mining MP A.Undraa and Member of Parliament M.Oyunchimeg attended a consultation meeting on improving the legal environment of extractive industry. The MPs involved in a tour to Canada to study best practices for improving legal environment and in an international leadership program to USA on mine closure and rehabilitation.

Ethnic band ‘Blue Mongol’ or ‘Khukh Mongol’ is representing Mongolia in the 2017 Oriental Festival (Festival dell’ Oriente) with their folk performance combined with contortion and folk dance and Mongolian ger stand.

Composer aims to raise fund for building of Morin Khuur museum
Founder of Jonon Khar Museum, the first ever Morin Khuur museum, Morin Khuur maker, composer B.Sukhbaatar held a concert named ‘Melody of Heavens’ on April 24, Monday at the Wrestling Palace with a purpose of raising fund for the construction of a museum building.

Herders to restore pasture degradation
A project “Green gold and animal health” has been started in Uvurkhangai aimag with the funding of the Swiss Development Agency. ‘Association of pasture users groups of  Mongolia’ NGO is to implement the project in Zuunbayan-Ulaan, Uyanga, Bat-Ulzii and Bodg soums in 2017-2020. Prior to it, a pasture management project to develop herders’ institutions was implemented in western 7 aimags and the Government and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture advised to promulgate its successful practices to other aimags, said director of ‘Association of pasture users groups of  Mongolia’NGO N.Gankhuyag.

Seed reserve for spring sowing adequate
“54.3 thousand tons of wheat seed is required for this spring sowing. Land farmers have 39.8 thousand tons of seed from their 2016 yields, Crop Farming Supporting Fund has 4.6 thousand tons and state reserve has 5.8 thousand tons, but the rest 4.1 thousand tons of seed has been circulated and we have the required seed reserve for the 2017 spring sowing”, said Ts.Bolorchuluun, Head of Department of Crop Production Policy Management at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry today, April 24 during a press conference.

The 21st international “Asian Cities Taekwondo Championships” took place in Hong Kong on April 22-23. Mongolian athletes brought home nine medals from the tournament held by Asian Taekwondo Union.

Power Engineering School laboratory renovated with Mitsubishi Electric equipment
Today, April 24, the Power Engineering School of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology opened its renovated laboratory, funded by the Setsuyo Astec Corporation, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric. The Laboratory is equipped with 15 programmable logic controller of “FX3G-40MT/ES-A” type and two drive equipment of “Melservo JN A” type, which cost JPY750 thousand.  “- Automated sysem in electric production has been developing rapidly in the world. Our graduates lack experience with the newest technology. The new laboratory will allow our students to practice latest technology, besides learning theories” said Director of the Energy School Ch.Mangaljalav.

"Investor Nation 2017” investment forum took place in Ulaanbaatar for the first time on April 22-23. Winners of national kickboxing tournament awarded
The 18th national kickboxing tournament took place in Ulaanbaatar between April 21 and 23. After numerous fierce battles, Darkhan-Uul aimag’s A-1 club athletes, under the coaching of S.Amgalanjargal, won the cup and became national champions for the first time from Darkhan-Uul aimag. A total of 140 athletes from 23 fighting clubs competed in 18 different weight categories.

Storms predicted in coming days
The National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring warns that on April 24 and 27, precipitation will fall and wind storm with 14-16 m/sec speed will occur on some areas of western aimags and eastern part of eastern aimags.   However on April 26 western part and on April 27 most parts of the country will experience warm temperatures. On weekend it gets warmer with -3 -8 Celsius in the nighttime, and +7+12 Celsius in the daytime.
