Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The State Great Khural (parliament) ran December 3 a final reading of the draft new wording of Criminal Law and adopted it along with the 14 follow-up bills and two draft resolutions.

The first two readings of the document, submitted in February of 2015, were run last June.

Batbayar MP suggested a principally different opinion on the classification of Theft of Livestock. He noted that the livestock theft must be considered a felony, as this offence results in such great damages for herders as loss of their subsistence and destruction of their working conditions. Therefore, it should be included in Article 17 of the new Criminal Law, he added. A majority of the MPs backed this opinion.

The renewed Criminal Law is to come into effect September 1 of 2016.
