Nat’l team of judo comes 2nd in Asian Championships

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian national team for judo has showed historical results at the latest Judo Asian Championship, which concluded on Sunday in Tashkent of Uzbekistan.

In the events, which gathered 235 judokas from 30 countries, Mongolia won four gold, three silver and six bronze medals in the men and women’s 11 weight categories.

A Hero of Labor, Olympic gold and silver medalist N.Tuvshinbayar claimed a gold medal in the men’s -100kg after defeating Japan, Pakistan and Iran rivals. In the finals, he beat a judoka of the host nation Soyib Kurbanov.

Other gold medals went to D.Altansukh IMS (men’s -66kg), N.Dagvasuren (men’s -81kg) and D.Sumiya (women’s -57kg).

State Honored Sportswoman and 2013 World champion M.Urantsetseg grabbed a silver in the women’s -48kg. At the finals, she was beaten by G.Otgontsetseg, a former judoka of the Mongolian national team and a current representation of Kazakhstan.

Bronze medals were claimed by D.Tsogtbaatar (men’s 60kg), D.Tomorkhuleg (men’s -66kg), M.Bundmaa (women’s 52kg), Ts.Tserennadmid (women’s 63kg), P.Lhamdegd (women’s -78kg) and O.Javzmaa (women’s +78kg).

Other six judokas took the 5th place.

Both men and women’s teams won silver medals in the team contests.

As the final team results, the national team of Japan came the first by winning five gold, three silver and four bronze medals. Japan has been followed by Mongolia and Kazakhstan (three gold, two silver and four bronze medals). 14 countries grabbed one medal at least.
