Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Within its foreign policy goal to broaden traditional friendly relations with Asia-Pacific countries, Mongolia wants to forward such ties with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Speaker of parliament Z.Enkhbold said it during a meeting with a delegation, led by Mr Uong Chu Luu, a Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly (parliament) of Vietnam. The guests are taking part in the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP9) which is running here.

Mongolia also intends to activate the political talks with Vietnam in all volumes and to intensify the cooperation frames in economy, trade, investments, agriculture, education, culture, defense and law enforcement, the Speaker said.

He hopes that Vietnam will support Mongolia in boosting the ties with Southeast Asian countries, in joining the APEC and in becoming a partner of the ASEAN Talks.

Mr Luu expressed a satisfaction with a strengthening of the bilateral cooperation in all fields and of the inter-parliamentary ties. A visit of the National Assembly Speaker to Mongolia last year is an evidence of the boosting of the relations, Mr Luu said. He added Vietnam aims to make its foreign policy more active.

“Our traditional friendly relations have a long-year history. We are always thankful to Mongolia for the support in our difficult times of wars,” Mr Luu emphasized.

Mongolia immensely contributed to the education sector of Vietnam by giving Vietnamese students scholarships to study in Mongolia. "We hope that the governments of our countries will seek a chance to boost business in the road and transportation sector,” he said.

The Speaker thanked the delegation for participating in the ASEP9 and wished them a nice stay here.

Present at the meeting were Z.Bayanselenge MP, a head of the Mongolia-Vietnam inter-parliamentary group at the State Great Khural; officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Office.
