"Last Khaan of Mongolia Bogdo Jebtsundamba Khutukhtu VIII" exhibition opens
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the 29th of December in the light of celebration of the National Independence Day, “The Last Khaan of Mongolia Bogdo Jebtsundamba Khutukhtu VIII” exhibition opened today at the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum.
The exhibition is being staged by the Ulaanbaatar city museum and the Institute of Knowledge and Culture of the Gandantegchinlen Monastery.
The exhibition features rare exhibits from the museum collection of the Eighth Bogdo Jebtsundamba Khutukhtu.
When northern Mongolia declared its independence in 1911, the Jebtsundamba Khutukhtu (1869–1924) was elevated to theocratic ruler and called Bogdo Khaan. He was the head of state until his death in 1924.
