Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A decree to ban the use of non-standard toilets in Special Protected Areas starting from June 1, 2018 was issued. Since April last year, five recommendation and official letters regarding the decree were sent to the Special Protected Area Administration.

Within this decision, toilets will be standardized in all protected areas in Mongolia, thereby avoiding soil pollution. There are several solutions for standard toilets including improved pit latrines  that protects from dirt soaking in the soil, eco-friendly dry toilet, portable or mobile toilets or improved and air-conditioned sanitary facilities.

Citizens and entities operating in the Special Protected Areas should start using sanitary facilities that meet standard requirements starting June 1. In case of failure to comply with the requirements, licenses will be revoked.

One of the oldest protected areas in the world, Bogd Khan Mountain is located in the south of Ulaanbaatar city.
