Minister N.Tserenbat: We are working on fully digitizing Ministry of Environment and Tourism by 2019

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat is on an official mission to the Kingdom of Spain. The 2nd UNWTO World Conference on Smart Destinations is being organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda of Spain on June 25-27, 2018.

During the conference, Minister N.Tserenbat met with Secretary-General of the UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili and requested the UNWTO to support Mongolia in attracting donors and investors to develop infrastructure, products and services along the main tourism destinations of Mongolia. Furthermore, the sides exchanged views on introducing Tourism Satellite Account to develop tourism statistics in Mongolia, cooperating on the establishment of UNWTO Sustainable Tourism Observatory Center, introducing digital tourism technologies such as smart travel products and services based on mobile phones, and other issues.



Leading global digital technology companies are participating in the conference. Minister N.Tserenbat met  with representatives of IBM, Master card and Amadeus and informed them of that the work on fully digitizing Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Tourism by 2019 is ongoing.

The conference aims at designing a new tourism model for 21st century based on tourism technology, innovations, universal accessibility and sustainability, and emphasizing the tourism as the key sector for the achievement of ‘Sustainable Development Goals 2030". During the conference, panel sessions are being held with active inclusion of participants on a wide range of topics such as the use of digital technology-based tourism area reforms, monitoring solutions to the effects of tourism, development of sustainable development through the use of smart governance, new technology and innovation, data use, cyber security, cooperation in the sector and open platforms.
