Mongolian delegation attending Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin and Chief of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Major-General T.Badral is taking part in the 2019 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, being held on May 13-17 in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the
session, the Deputy PM met with UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction Mami Mizutori. He briefed Ms. Mami
Mizutori on the actions Mongolia has taken on disaster risk reduction after the
Asian Ministerial Conference on DRR (AMCDRR) 2018, sharing his view on paying
more attention to local level disaster risk reduction. In turn, Ms. Mami
Mizutori expressed her willingness to further cooperate, while noting that the United
Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction will always support the Mongolian
government’s activities on disaster risk reduction.
Moreover, Major-General
T.Badral held a meeting with Secretary General of the International Civil Defence
Organisation Belkacem Elketroussi, agreeing to strengthen the ties and
partnership of the two organizations and collaborate in improving disaster management.
He also participated in the Asia Pacific regional consultation and reported on the
result of 2018 AMCDRR.
