Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ To prevent Covid-19 outbreak and ensure the safety of its miners, sewing factory of the Erdenet Mining Corporation (EMC) state-owned enterprise has started making two- and three-ply cotton face masks.

The factory workers will be making 30,000 face masks in addition to their daily task of sewing workwear and ore bags.

The factory’s manager J.Munkh-Orgil said, “Our fabric cutters have cut as much as 10,000 thousand layers of fabric in two days. We have plans to ready some prior to the Lunar New Year and make the rest after the holiday. Since 30,000 is not a small number, all of our fabric cutters and over 40 sewers will be in charge of the work. Next week, the first batch of face masks will be provided and we are also working to provide the EMC staff with a constant supply of masks”

The raw material of the face masks meets the special requirements of the local specialized inspection and health departments.

Incidentally, 6,000 workers of EMC process 89,000 tons of ore a day, thus contributing MNT 1.8 million to the state budged per minute. It is a major enterprise of Mongolia that has topped the annual list of top 100 companies of the country 14 times since 2004.
