Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Sarangerel met yesterday with Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mongolia Office Tamuro Eriko, exchanging views on the possibilities of further strengthening of the mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the meeting, Ms. Tamuro Eriko said, “I travel to countryside 2-3 times a month. One thing that I notice every time is littering, which makes me realize that works need to be done on conserving the nature and changing the mindset of people not to litter. Therefore, on behalf of the JICA, I would like to express my agency's readiness to cooperate with the Ministry in the field of tourism and to find solutions to these problems.”

“We are focusing on five key environmental issues including air and water pollution, littering, conservation and climate change and there are possibilities of cooperation between the JICA and the Ministry within this framework” she added.

In turn, Minister D.Sarangerel said, “I agree with the issues you have mentioned and those have been included in the Government’s action plan. Mongolia, for the first time, included tourism in its priority sector. Mongolia is rich with beautiful landscapes and unique cultural traditions. Now, there is a necessity of developing tourism and improving service quality. We will cooperate and provide all-round support to your activities.”
