Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) is implementing 'Pro Value' project to create sea buckthorn production clusters in Mongolia and support the country in producing and exporting final products.

As part of the project, Uvs aimag’s local sea buckthorn farmers and producers have jointly established a business cluster and begun doing cultivation and production together. The cluster members recently received small tractors purchased with joint project funding.

DIHK, the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the MNCCI Office in Uvs have been implementing the project since 2015 to establish sea buckthorn production clusters and support local production of value-added products. The project aims at creating jobs in rural Mongolia and increasing incomes of small and medium sized businesses by creating clusters in Uvs and Arkhangai aimags, supporting sea buckthorn and wool value chains through the cluster development, and creating value-added products.

Foreign agriculture specialists have also provided training seminars during the project. For instance, German specialist Niklot Pagels provided training on production of sugar-free juice. Before that, MNCCI organized the first forum of sea buckthorn production clusters - ‘Mongolian Sea-buckthorn on the Global Market’.
