Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At its plenary meeting today, April
15, the Parliament of Mongolia has adopted a Bill to prevent the rise in price
and shortage of key commodities caused by the international crisis and reduce
their impact, with major votes (87.5 percent).
Caused by the COVID-19 situation and the Russia-Ukraine
crisis, the world countries are facing the shortage of fuel and consumer goods,
and prices are sharply rising. In specific, since this January the price of
wheat, which accounts for 41-50 percent of the world's consumption, has risen
by 40 percent. The UN estimates that 8 to 13 million people could starve if
global food shortages worsen. Therefore, in order to overcome the difficulties, the Government of Mongolia submitted the Bill to the
Parliament on April 5 for urgent consideration.
