Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On August 23, Prime Minister of Mongolia L.Oyun-Erdene received Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) Wy Mun Kong.

Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene paid a visit to the Republic of Singapore in July this year. In accordance with this, a delegation of SCE arrived in Mongolia in order to ensure the implementation of the issues agreed upon during the visit.

Expressing satisfaction with the fact that the two sides are putting efforts to ensure the implementation of the issues agreed upon during his visit, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the delegation for their working visit to Mongolia.

During the PM’s visit last month, the two sides agreed to work together in four areas. Firstly, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Mongolia and the SCE established a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the purpose of providing consulting services to Mongolia for its establishment of a unified accumulation fund that is compatible with the country’s characteristics. In this regard, technical conditions for providing support and consulting services for the establishment of the fund in Mongolia have been developed and submitted to the World Bank. Accordingly, the World Bank has resolved to finance a certain part of the costs of the first and second stages of consulting service.

Secondly, in the context of improving the management of state-owned enterprises, certain works are being done in cooperation with Singapore based on MIAT Company. This is in line with the goal of building a new city based on the International Airport in the Khushig Valley. Representatives of a Singapore company, Surbana Jurong, are working in Mongolia to study this possibility on the ground.

Thirdly, the sides agreed to resolve some issues of urban planning in Mongolia. Mongolia is ranked first in the world in terms of land area per population. However, more than 50 percent of the total population lives on 0.3 percent of the land, or Ulaanbaatar city, and there are many problems such as congestion, air pollution, access to schools and kindergartens, and housing. In this context, the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia and the SCE are implementing the ‘Urban Planning Program’ and planning to hold a series of training.

At the end of the meeting, PM Oyun-Erdene expressed his full support for the development of these works and pledged to work closely together to achieve substantial results.

In turn, SCE CEO Wy Mun Kong thanked the PM for his warm welcome and expressed commitment to achieving concrete results in these directions.
