Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa expressed his condolences to the President of the Republic of India, Droupadi Murmu, over India`s deadly bridge collapse that occurred in India`s western state of Gujarat at the end of last month.

"On behalf of the people of Mongolia and myself, please accept our deepest sympathies to you and the families and relatives of the victims of the bridge accident in the state of Gujarat, Republic of India, in which dozens of precious lives were lost and a lot of damage was caused,” Khurelsukh said in the message.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of India, our "strategic partner" and "spiritual neighbor". "We are wishing the people who were seriously injured due to this unfortunate incident to recover quickly and return to their normal state."

At least 140 people were killed after a century-old pedestrian bridge in the western Indian state of Gujarat on October 30, 2022. A large number of those who died were children, women, and older people, according to officials. The bridge collapsed four days after it was reopened to the public and about seven months after the start of renovation work. Built in 1880, during the Victorian era, it is about 755 feet long.
