Foreign Minister Receives UNICEF Representative in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia B. Batsetseg received UNICEF Representative in Mongolia Evariste Kouassi-Komlan on December 9.


Expressing gratitude to UNICEF for its valuable contribution made to Mongolia’s socio-economic development goals, especially in the areas of child development and protection, Minister B. Battsetseg congratulated on the endorsement of the new Country Program document during the UNICEF Executive Board session. The new country program will be co-implemented by the Government of Mongolia and UNICEF in 2023-2027.


UNICEF Representative Evariste Kouassi-Komlan reaffirmed UNICEF’s continued support in providing technical and financial support to the Government of Mongolia and expressed that special attention will be paid to ensure projects and programs within the newly-approved Country Program will be inclusive and accessible for every child.


The meeting also touched on continuing the projects and programs that have been successfully implemented such as reducing air pollution-related health complications, improving maternity healthcare, enhancing internet connectivity in schools, and increasing accessibility of digital learning.


With the funding of USD 57.4 million, the new country program will be co-implemented by the Government of Mongolia and UNICEF in 2023-2027 under the following six objectives: (1) health, nutrition, and development, (2) education, (3) child protection, (4) water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and climate change, (5) social inclusion and evidence and (6) program effectiveness.
