Mining sector employees receive highest salary in country

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first quarter of 2016, 550.9 employees of 36.6 entities were included in the social insurance premiums report. Out of those workers, 25.7 thousand people or 4.8% are paid below 192.0 thousand MNT, which is the minimum monthly wage by law.

Number of people who are paid between 192.0 and 300 thousand MNT a month is 54.6 thousand or 9.9% of the total social insurance payers, 300.0-500.0 thousand MNT monthly salary receivers make up 18.2%, 500.0-900.0 thousand MNT – 38.3%, 900.0-1,300.0 thousand MNT – 15.4%, 1,300.0-1,500.0 thousand MNT – 3.6%, and more than 1,500.0 thousand MNT covers 9.8% of all surveyed employees.

In terms of economic sectors, highest paid employees belong to the mining sector with average monthly salary of 1,961.9 thousand MNT, and the lowest paid are those who work in hotels, apartments and public catering services with average monthly salary of 584.6 thousand MNT.

An average monthly salary on the national level, as of the end of Q1 2016, was 871.4 thousand MNT, indicating increase of 20.0 thousand MNT or 2.3% against the same period of 2015, and of 2.9 thousand MNT or 0.3% against the previous quarter.
