Ulaanbaatar, February 3, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Government of Mongolia and the Government of Japan have been jointly implementing theHigher Engineering Education DevelopmentProject in Mongolia since 2014.

To date, the Project has provided USD 14.1 million worth of equipment to the National University of Mongolia (NUM) and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). As part of the project, 42 types of publishing and studio, totaling 105 units and valued at USD 259,846, were handed over to NUM. These resources aims at supporting the development of academic publishing and enhancing digital engineering content collection.

The Project allows university lecturers and researchers to create, archive, continuously update, and distribute digital courses, making them widely accessible. Additionally, students will have access to a digital course library, allowing them to study materials online.

Furthermore, the new academic publishing equipment will play a key role in disseminating scientific research findings, theoretical works, and academic achievements to the public. This advanced system enables the high-quality printing of scientific journals, books, essays, and research papers in small quantities based on demand, eliminating the need for offset printing. It is expected to streamline production, reduce costs and time, and enhance the efficiency of academic publishing.

Project Coordinator D. Namsrai highlighted that this initiative provides opportunities for digital learning resources and aligns with NUM's strategic plan till 2030 to support lifelong education. "The availability of such equipment plays a crucial role in making this reality," he noted.

Miyagi Kensuke, Chief Representative of the JICA Mongolia Office said, "This Project has been running for 12 years since 2014. Our main objective is to strengthen Mongolia’s industrial sector by increasing the number and quality of skilled professionals, enhancing the capacity of higher education institutions, and providing essential training equipment. We will also support collaborative research activities with professors from Japanese universities."

In 2014, a Soft Loan Agreement worth JPY 7.5 billion was signed as part of theHigher Engineering Education DevelopmentProject. The State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia ratified the Agreement, laying the foundation for the project's implementation.
