Mongolia Wins Three Medals at the Third Stage of the Ice Climbing World Cup
SocietyUlaanbaatar, February 3, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian athletes secured three medals at the third stage of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation's (UIAA) 2025 Ice Climbing World Cup in Champagny-en-Vanoise, France.
Mongolian athletes won two gold medals and one bronze in the men's and women's speed categories. In the men’s speed event, International Master of Sport Ch. Mandakhbayar claimed the gold medal. Meanwhile, N. Kherlen secured the bronze medal. This marks Mandakhbayar’s third World Cup victory, while Kherlen earned his second bronze medal in the series. In the women’s speed event, International Master of Sports N. Selenge also won the gold medal. Having secured two golds and one silver across the first three stages of the World Cup, she continues to lead the competition.
After three stages, N. Selenge remains at the top of the women’s world rankings, while Ch. Mandakhbayar and N. Kherlen hold second and third places, respectively, in the men’s rankings.
The competition took place at a venue designated for the 2030 Winter Olympics, featuring 120 elite athletes from 18 countries, who showcased their speed, agility, and technical skill.
The fourth stage of the Ice Climbing World Cup is scheduled to be held in Longmont, the USA, on February 21, 2025, followed by the fifth stage in Edmonton, Canada, on February 27, 2025.
