486 new COVID-19 cases registered, total reaches 9,327

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The daily COVID-19 press briefing by the Ministry of Health for April 2, Friday, reported that a total of 486 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours. 


Some 11,846 COVID-19 PCR tests were carried out at 21 laboratories in health clinics of Ulaanbaatar city and rural aimags, including a mobile laboratory in Gashuunsukhai border port in Umnugobi aimag. 


Among them, 391 newly confirmed cases were detected in Ulaanbaatar city and 93 in rural regions. As a result, the nationwide infection tally is now 9,327, with 8,788 of which are cases of community transmission, and the cases registered in the capital city reached 7,657. 


Over the past 24 hours, 164 coronavirus patients were recovered and discharged from hospital, making the number of COVID-19 recoveries 5,216. 


As of April 2, a total of 1,990 coronavirus patients are being treated at hospitals in Ulaanbaatar city and in Khuvsgul, Tuv, Darkhan-Uul, Uvs, Uvurkhangai, Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Orkhon, Khentii, Gobisumber, Selenge and Khovd aimags.  Also, two more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing the total to 14.


Since the vaccination drive in the country kicked off on February 23, a total of 323,690 people or 16.2 percent of the vaccination target have received the first dose of vaccines against COVID-19 that are available in Mongolia, including Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Sputnik-V.  Mongolia has received 509,740 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to date, reports the Ministry of Health.
