The University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia Awarded with the Order of Sukhbaatar

Ulaanbaatar, November 4, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia, one of the oldest higher education institutions in the country, marks its centennial this year. 


Held at the Central Cultural Palace of Mongolia, the Centennial Jubilee saw numerous honorable guests, including President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Rector of the University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia Munkhbayar Byambadash, as well as the generations of teachers, staff, graduates, and students of the University. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa issued a Decree Conferring the University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia the Order of Sukhbaatar, recognizing the University’s noteworthy contributions to the development of the educational sector and preparing workforces in trade, economy, and finance. President Khurelsukh extended congratulations to the generations of scholars, teachers, researchers, staff, officials, students, and graduates on the historical Centennial of the University. 


Moreover, the Head of State highlighted that the University of Finance and Economics has trained experts and specialists in market economy, who played crucial roles in developing the foundations for the market economy of the country, including the capital exchange, two-staged banking system, taxation, customs, insurance, and business. President Khurelsukh expressed his confidence that the University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia will continue to take the lead in preparing a capable national workforce to strengthen national economic sovereignty and security and develop a higher education system based on science, technology, and innovation. 


The University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia has been a pioneer in the field of higher education, strengthening good governance, and a model of the development of higher education institutes for 30 years. 


The UFE was ranked among the Top Universities Pursuing Sustainable Development Goals in 2024, introducing new forms of student and teacher exchange programs in collaboration with foreign higher education institutes, conducting joint projects and research, as well as gaining international accreditations for its curriculum. 


Established in 1924, the UFE began its operations with two teachers and 40 students under the name “Temporary School of Customs.” Since then, it has undertaken responsibilities to develop trade, economic, and financial sectors, in particular, to train national personnel and specialists in the sector. The University was renamed the “School of Accounting” in 1929, the “Vocational School of Finance” in 1935, and the “Vocational School of Finance and Economics” in 1946. In 1949, the University was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor of Mongolia. The UFE has produced more than 55 thousand graduates, including former Prime Minister of Mongolia Jigjidjav Tsengelt, dozens of political and social figures such as Tsedenbal Yumjaa, Sodnom Dumaa, and Amarjargal Rinchinnyam, cultural and literary figures of Mongolia.
