Mongolia Collaborates with UNESCO on Strengthening Workforce for Hydrology Sector

Ulaanbaatar, April 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia Odontuya Saldan met with Abou Amani, Director of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) Secretariat at UNESCO, to discuss further collaboration.
At the meeting, the Minister presented Mongolia's proposal to initiate a collaborative effort focused on "Hydrology and Drought" in partnership with UNESCO at the One Water Summit. The two sides exchanged views on opportunities to support Mongolia’s initiative and enhance UNESCO’s engagement in the upcoming “International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026” and also discussed the proposal to establish an “International Coalition for Pastoral and Nomadic Livestock Husbandry” within the framework of COP17.
The two sides agreed to cooperate on joint research, capacity building, and workforce
development in Mongolia’s hydrology sector.
